The antique store down the road has started hosting first-Saturday-of-the-month flea markets. You cannot imagine how desperately I want this venture to succeed. Well, probably you can. Today's market had the added attraction of being the only event to save me from a perfectly enjoyable but sale-free holiday weekend. Carson is learning to be a good rider in the car, so I briefly toyed with the idea of taking him along. Sanity prevailed, and I left him at home. As it turns out, I felt like I had plenty of company.
I thought of Vicki right away when I found this sampler. I was admiring her collection just last night.
Another Bates coverlet!!! Makes me want to break my self-imposed three exclamation point rule. I have been looking for these guys for years, and this is my second one in six months. Bates college alum Sue writes one of my favorite blogs, Vintage Rescue Squad.
I had sworn I was going to stop buying so many tablecloths until I read how many Sarah has. I have hundreds to go before I'm even close to her collection.
I think I'm collecting Dutch motifs now just because I like LiLi so much. When she's not blogging, she's modeling boar's heads at markets in Antwerp. Go look for yourself. You think I could make something like that up?
A shoebox full of vintage cards, some of the best I've ever seen. I can't wait to sort through them all.
How sweet is this one? An apron with kittens? With pink plaid and blue flowers? It had a tab that allows it to be stood upright for display. If that's not enough cuteness for you ...
it's printed front and back. Honestly, I ask you: if you could buy these cards today, would you not buy one for every person you know? Well, maybe not your dad or husband, but every woman you know? This might be a good place to mention how great the prices were at today's market. I was not expecting bargains, since this is the peak of the tourist season here, but I came home with a dollar left from my $20 allowance.
and two of these pop-out bluebird of happiness cards! Hope some are flying your way this weekend.
