My pal Susan (who claims not to have buried anyone in her backyard - scroll down through her photos and you decide) has tagged me, so here goes. The reason there's a picture of a cake will soon become obvious.
1. What was I doing ten years ago?
I was living where I do now with the same people I do now, but two of them were much, much smaller. My daughter was 4, my son was about to turn 7, and I had just talked my bosses into letting me work part-time instead of full-time, thus preserving my sanity for at least a few more years.
2. Five things on my to-do list today:
Get my snow tires off the car. Pick up my son from his golf match. List some stuff on Etsy. Clean. Bake a birthday cake for my daughter! Here it comes again (devil's food with seven-minute icing and unsweetened chocolate drizzles...mmmmmm)
It would be much easier for me to list five foods I don't like (if I could even come up with that many) because I love every kind of snack. Especially if it's not particularly good for me. Especially if it's 10 o'clock at night. Especially salt and pepper potato chips if I want something salty, M & Ms if I want something sweet. Both of which I happen to have. Be right back.
4. Things I would do if I was a billionaire:
I thought about this way too much. Give most of it away, most of it to projects in Kenya, where we sponsor a little girl, Beatrice. Buy my home town in Pennsylvania, restore all the old houses and turn the town square back to the way it was when my parents were growing up. Give money to the animal shelter in Nebraska where our dog was born. (He's seen more of the country than I have.) Take care of my family. Buy a thatched cottage in England. Get a massage. This really sounds like so much fun. I really want a billion dollars now.
Fredonia, Pennsylvania; Edinboro, Pennsylvania; Manchester, New Hampshire; Clayton, New York; Skaneateles, New York
I really, really, really wanted to post the incredibly cute picture I took of my incredibly cute daughter here, but she didn't like the idea so much. And it is her birthday.
I'm passing this tag along to Gail at Crafty Little Beana, Linda at My Vintage Soul (who I was sitting next to at work 10 years ago!), Lindsey and Twyla at Two Crazy Crafters and I hope two more people whose names may appear here shortly.
My that cake looks delicious! That frosting makes it look like a cloud (a very tasty cloud) and I am glad I am not the only one smitten with vintage cake toppers. Wait, I think it was you who got me smitten! I hope you run across that billion dollar vintage find soon. Have a great weekend girl. Love Stacy

That cake is wonderful! And isn't it fun to think about winning the lottery and what you would do with it? I do this all the time!

What a gorgeous cake! I wish your daughter would have let you post a pic. Birthday pics are the best! I am working on my tagged assignment, I wish I had more pics to post with it.

Barbara, I'm sorry it took me so long to find you. I can't link back to your blog from your comment. But anyway, I found you now,and I'm glad I did. Your cake looks delicious. I would like to add you to my blogroll. I love your answer to #4. I too would buy every house in my small town. Fix it up and decorate it and anyone who wants to buy it has to sign a promise to take care of, love, and respect the house. And make sure that they take down the Christmas icicle lights by the end of January.

2 things: I went to school in Fredonia, loved it, even spent summers there. Was the Hook and Ladder Deli there when you were? Best potato salad and Sun Tea IN THE WORLD, and...I love the Swanky Swigs glasses. I'll have to photograph and post about my little collection someday. Have a great holiday weekend.

I think after seeing your post that I may have in my excitement
did it to fast and didn't make it as pretty as yours!
I think it's neat that our ages can be so far apart but love the same things!
I think the birthday cake you made is beautiful! I especially love the flower glasses around it.
