Don't you just love crochet?
That women could use a little metal hook and a few balls of string to make these potholders is nothing short of magic.
Sometimes I run across an old crochet book and entertain the notion that I will take up crochet myself someday.
This book is filled with little things that every household should have.
Like cat and dog potholders. Or those flowered handle covers.
Or the little cottage potholders.
My tiny chicken handle cover is similar to the one on the cover of the book, so I won't have to make one of them.
Not that crochet should be limited to the kitchen. I have several of these pincushions (left) that are meant to resemble wide-brimmed hats. I mean to dress this one up with some ribbon and millinery flowers. At first I thought the little gold piece was a change purse.
But now I think it's actually a compact case.
I got entirely too carried away taking photos. I'll show you the things I really wish I knew how to make tomorrow.
Teach yourself to crochet!! Go online and check out the How to's, its not that hard!
I learned from the nun's in high school and never forgot how, I taught my daughter how to crochet she loves it!
Good luck!
Diane

I, of course, love crochet! I don't think I could make any of these patterns though. Those women were true artists and probably didn't know it. Thanks for leaving the very nice comment on our blog today! Have a nice week. Twyla

I love the little potholder with pink flowers. I recently found 4 red & white ones for my kitchen. I can't image the time that is put into making each one. xoxo, Joanna

The little dress at the top is adorable!
I think my mother had an egg cozy very similar to your chicken. It just brought back some vague memories.

Once upon a time I learned to crochet, but being a lefty it was difficult so I gave it up. I have a few red/white rose pot holders in my kitchen that I found at antique malls & I'm always amazed at these creations.
