I'm accustomed to buying milk and gas by the gallon. Today I bought a gallon of buttons. Gas is cheaper, at least gallon for gallon, but buttons are more fun.
After I was done sorting them, I was down to about a pint worth keeping. I've gotten increasingly ruthless about sorting buttons. The days of keeping every single button just in case are over. If I don't love it, it goes to the thrift store. It's not exactly like we're in danger of running out.
I'd have bought the whole jar just to get these.
The same design, but a little smaller and in brown.
I love the flower in the middle. Naturally, there was only one of them.
Itty-bitty flowers.
Pretty white buttons and pearls.
I'm not normally a fan of metal buttons, but I like these little bows.
I bought some other things at this sale, from a man who just moved here and needs to sell off some of his inventory from the antique store in the Catskills that he's closing. He's having more sales as he unpacks. Hope he hurries.
I myself have tons of buttons and routinely pass up the over priced 'ant-eek' buttons at nearly every sale I go to...unless of course I gotta have 'em and then , of course, I gotta get 'em. As far as your arbor goes, I had to laugh as I seem to be having a similar experience. I used to grow amazing Morning Glory like vines with no effort at all. Got an arbor, and they barely make it to the top. They are about knee high now. My wild sweet peas are doing ok though. And the window boxes attached to the gates on the arbor are pitiful. Very leggy. .....next year....just wait!

Thats a great attitude about buttons. There is often more junky plain ones than good ones in a jar.
And great tip on how to spot original Belguim linens. That will help a lot (tee hee)
