Swanky Swigs! I think it's a good sign when one of the first sales of the season brings a new Swig to the collection. I toted home a $1 box of junky glasses just to get the black star one on the right. Even though flowers are my favorite, the black star ones are great at Halloween. The orange and brown glasses are Swigs, too, but later vintage ones that I don't collect. (Because limits must be set, as you'll soon see.)
There were a few other glasses that I liked enough to keep, too: three of these little juice glasses with stars around the rim, which seem somehow useful for our patriotic holidays, and the two Santa glasses in back.
I devoted a shelf in one of the bigger kitchen cupboards for Swigs and various other glasses, and I've got all of the blue ones currently on display, but space is getting tight. (I just counted the blue Swigs. I thought there were eight or ten, but there are 20). Hence, the brown and orange must go.
I found a couple of other patterns that I liked among the ones I got on Saturday. This one with the really cute poppy pocket ...
and this one, with the little bias-tape tulip pockets. Which would look really great made out of the feedsack underneath it. All of the patterns (including the Santa one from Saturday) will be on eBay Monday night. I never remember to come back to put in links, but you can always search under my seller name, kremisclub, if you want to look. The feedsack (and another one, possibly cuter) will be there, too.
So here's the thing I got at the sale that is a little odd, but I was thrilled to find it.
Isn't it wonderful?
My mom has old glasses with fish and creels on them and hunting dogs at the cabin. Drinking out of the glasses at the cabin always feels and tastes better than anywhere else. Love your collection!
