The Hoosier had been looking a little disheveled after the Christmas decorations were put away, so last week it got a long-overdue rearranging. Now it's filled with happy colors and an array of Swanky Swigs. My adoration for Swigs is over the top. Out of control. Embarrassing, even. I love the colors, the gloss, the patterns. I love how they're just hard enough to find at sales that it's exciting to find one, and how when you do find them, they're marked something ridiculous like a dime or a quarter. I'm also loving the shelf paper, which was inspired by Susan. I just bought a different design from her Etsy shop, which is going to be perfect for Easter.
I laugh to think that I bought those Jadite bowls last summer with the intention of selling them. Who was I kidding? LiLi asked one time whether I keep the cupboard door open to show off what's inside. Well, sort of. Actually the latch needs to be replaced, but I kind of like it this way. I just discovered on the inside of the open door a phone number written in pencil in old-fashioned penmanship. If I end up painting the Hoosier sometime, I'll keep the phone number. You'll see this same picture in a slightly different format in a second.
One of the things behind the closed door is a neat stack of vintage tea towels and small tablecloths.
The cookie cutters don't get a lot of use, but I use the scale all the time to weigh packages. It's extraordinarily accurate. That's the newly finished huck towel underneath, by the way.
Here's the slightly wider view of the Hoosier, to show Carson. My camera makes a little beeping sound when I turn it on, and he comes running as soon as he hears it. It's as if he can't imagine there's anything else I'd want to take a picture of other than him. He maintained this rather noble watching-over-the-grounds pose for much of the picture taking, and I felt bad when I cropped him out. He makes me laugh every day. Much as I love those Swanky Swigs, it's not even close to how crazy I am about that dog.
Love, love, LOVE this!! And as usual, you are playing Show and Tell with all of the same things I love and collect. I have collected numerous sets of Swanky Swigs, love shelf liner edging, and I have that same set of Jadite green bowls and the platter. I may not have a great Hoosier or a dog - but that's about it!

Love the makeover: the balance, the composition, use of colour -it is high art!
When I am tidying the house the kids ask if I am going take a picture of whatever I am dusting or rearranging for my blog. Lately I have dreams about vintage papers and ephemera but last night the thoroughly modern vintage household added a dog -I wonder if there is a message?

I heart Carson, too! Animals just add such a nice element to our lives, don't they? And that unconditional love!
I am SO jealous of those tea towels. So jealous!
Do you use your swanky swigs regularly?

That is too cute, that Carson comes running! It made me smile; my little Pumpkin does cute little things like that too. They do add so much to our lives!

Everything looks so beautiful, but I can't take my eyes off of your tulip glasses. Devine!

Your Hoosier cabinet is fabulous! Love the shelf liner, too!

I hope you will do a post every time you move things around in your Hoosier. It is a delightful place to store all of your wonderful treasures. I have 3 cute swigs, but no real good place to show them off.
Your Carson is a real sweetie. I can just picture him running in when the camera beeps. Too cute!

I love your hoosier...everything in it is soooo fun! I also love you and your blog more for already deciding NOT to paint over the pencil phone number if you ever paint the cabinet...I love keeping those silly little touches that make one smile and add a bit more character!

Oh, I wish I had a Hoosier. My carpenter has one in his warehouse. I keep hoping he'll see the silliness of it being there and give it to me! This is so pretty. I want some of Susan's edging.

You have very good guard pets Barbara, and I hope they are paid well! The hoosier is looking good, as always. I also love that you haven't painted over the phone number. Stuff like that reminds us that these things had a past life!

Love the Hoosier-I got rid of mine when I thought I was going to redo my kitchen in a Tuscan style- who was I kidding- Jadite, a stack of cherry tablecloths, a row of Swanky swigs and a dog who comes when you turn on your camera- THAT'S the style for me.
Now that I see a full size Carson, he is a lot fuller and probably taller than Buddy- and you can bet I'll be showing the picture to my husband when he gets home. He feels like Carson is a long lost relative he's never met.

You have such a wonderful way of displaying things, Barbara. I wish you were here, to help me edit. We love so many of the same things, and colors. Especially in kitchen things.

I adore that Hoosier and the wonderful colors of everything inside. The scale is particularly amazing, as is Carson. Love him!

I don't think that it is a coincidence that Carson exactly matches the Hoosier and the chair ;-), you both have a great feeling for decorating!

Adorable and inspirational, once again!
