Does anyone else find summer exhausting? I'm increasingly grateful for Monday mornings, when I can go to work and get away from everything that needs to be done around here. The vegetable garden has been neglected, so I worked out there most of the weekend. Now the house looks terrible. Once I'm done with the house, the flower beds will need work. All of this is just to take the opportunity to whine a little and wonder: Would I have more energy if I began my day with Vita Oleomargarine?
I went to a sale a week ago Saturday where a nice lady was selling a lot of things with old advertising. I thought this wooden box (which is probably big enough for three medium-sized flowerpots) would look great as a planter box for miniature roses. You know - Rosebud? Roses?
The classic Land O'Lakes cheese box was another find. I found some things this weekend, too, but I ran out of time to take photos. Blame the vegetable garden.
I like the logo on the wash board, from the same sale. I hung it next to the Hoosier, and it's right where I can see it first thing in the morning.
You can see its location here, as well as pretty much the sum total of the decorating I intend to do for the 4th of July. This is a photo I took for Etsy. I updated the shop Friday (there's a link in the sidebar), and a lot of the new stuff has sold already. I think I'm supposed to be more vigorously promoting the shop here, but I'm just too tired.
I buzzed over to the booth at the antique mall and was pleased to see that some things had sold. That was an excuse to rearrange everything, so this is a shelf for fussy things.
And a shelf for things I a) already have or b) wish I had room for. See the little Rosebud box back there? I hope somebody buys it and puts pots of roses in it.
I didn't have a chance to read anybody's blog this weekend. I hope I can catch up today, and that everyone had a pleasant weekend. Mine was good, but I'm glad it's over. I need it to be Monday.
Love the "sunnyland" washboard. Wish I had some sun here but summer hasn't hit here yet.

Well I started my Monday a bit weird. By accident I put my alarm clock time an houre later so I was sooo tired when I got up. We had a huge party over here to celebrate my daughters graduation. I think I have outdone myself again with baking way too much. As my brother in law said: tell LiLy that you will leave early and she will bake 230 scones in stead of 330. So when I wanted to wake up my son I discovered it was too early and I cleaned everything that was still in the kitchen and wouldn't fit in the dish washer. And now I am going back to bed! TGIM indeed!

It's a vicious circle, isn't it? Work in the garden, and the house falls apart. Clean the house, and the weeds take over in the garden. And don't forget the time it takes to blog. I think we all need either a housekeeper or a gardener. Or both!

Yes, I hate the way I am never finished in the summer. I try to get my husband and son involved in a few projects, but they are smart enough to stay out of my line of sight. We planted a bunch of roses (a Mother's Day present) but never got around to any tomatoes. Guess I'll have to frequent the farmers' market more this year.

You're going to get tired of me commenting, but it's been so long since I've visited...and there is so much here to see.
Did I see red Pyrex in that picture????????
I admit to being a Pyrex addict..just can't help it.
I too,have an old washboard that I love...I think they're wonderful.
