If you came back to see my ornaments all neat and sorted, I have bad news. I didn't finish. Couldn't finish. Maybe tomorrow. I keep hoping that overnight a band of elves will go in and get the job done. I'm not sure I can. They're all starting to look the same to me. I mixed handpainted Polands with stenciled Shiny Brites - oh, the shame! Anyway, since the holiday season is short and there's no time to lose, I decided to go to the antique mall after work and re-do my case. When I was done it looked so pretty it begged me to go to the car and get my camera and take some pictures, so I did.
The manager of the antique mall is kind of a stickler for rules, so I haven't worked up the courage yet to ask if I can have the doors and shelves removed so I can do something amazing like Amy did. Nonetheless, I think it's sort of bursting with holiday spirit. Maybe vibrating. Or pulsing. Hopefully in a non-headache-inducing sort of way.
Through the fluorescent glare is a view of the top shelf, which is mostly kitchenware.
Including Willie and Millie, the penguin salt and pepper shakers - no kitchen is complete without them!
Pyrex (in the middle) and paper mache (the boot on the right) - it's a classic combination.
Would you like a cookie? Sorry, can't help you. How about a cookie cutter?
I did manage to take a few ornaments over. Actually, I took more than this, but it was surprising how quickly I lost enthusiasm for attaching itty-bitty price tags to each one. I think I have kind of a love-hate thing going with the ornaments this week. Anyway, my one bit of cleverness was wrapping Christmas ribbons around little things like folding yardsticks to help people think about what excellent stocking stuffers they would make.
So if you find yourself in the Rochester, NY, area over the next few days, stop by Ontario Mall Antiques because there's a four-day Veterans Day sale. (24 percent off everything over $10; 5 percent off stuff $10 and under.) I'm in case 604, or you could just let yourself be guided by the holiday pulsations.
If you're an hour farther east, come see me. I'll be sorting ornaments, and I surely could use the help.
