Pennsylvania is a fine state, the state where I was born and where most of my family still lives. It is a land of mighty rivers and laurel-covered mountains, home of the Liberty Bell and the Pittsburgh Steelers. This weekend it was the setting for the wedding of my nephew, who remains my favorite nephew not only because he's the only one I've got but because he's a sweetheart and he scheduled the wedding and reception in such a way to accommodate antique shopping. Pennsylvania also is the home of good stuff at low, low prices. The set of aluminum canisters, the syrup dispenser and the very cute condiment set in a plastic basket were early finds.
Followed quickly by a couple of LuRay plates and a vase in a very popular shape - I've seen them in several colors and have a couple in Jadeite.
There was a nice little toy sewing machine in vintage red.
And some seriously underpriced Christmas ornaments and decorations.
This is a brand-new, just-out-of-the-box replacement heel for a shoe, which I purchased not because I'm collecting vintage heels . . .
but because the box had such great Halloween potential. The vintage crepe paper (all of it still in the package when I found it but I took some out so you could see) came from the same store.
Do you know how long I've been looking for these?
Well, to be honest, not very long at all.
Until this weekend, I didn't know that bobblehead bowlers existed.
Once I saw them, though, I knew I had to have them. That's Pennsylvania for you. It's not just the Keystone State. It's the place where dreams come true. Even dreams you didn't know you had.
I had to check my google reader...I thought was on Magpies post with those sweet bobble heads. What great finds again. I am in love with that sweet cherry red plastic basket condiment set...we all need an extra heel or two? Smiles...Renee

Bobble heads are the bomb. I would have them on a windowsill or shelf and walk by and just bobble them occasionally!
Glad that nephew left some time for junking with all the wedding festivities...you did quite well!

Wow, that's quite a haul! I especially like the condiment set and the toy sewing machine. LOVE that sewing machine. Does it actually sew?

You make me homesick. I'm from PA but the other side of the state - near Philly. I miss it all the time. You are just making me think I am missing out on good antiquing too.

Fabulous! Congratulations on the bobble-head bowlers. How can you bowl straight if your head is bobbin'?
I guess it doesn't matter as long as you look good. :)
